The Writer

Before becoming a writer, Sara spent 15 years doing PR for large, international companies. Her first book, Where in the OM Am I? was the NIEA-winner for Best Memoir and a Shape Magazine book pick. Kirkus praised her as a, “…fresh…sympathetic voice…hilarious.”

She is the founder and on-air host of the popular Mystery and Thriller Mavens Series, and has hosted over 400 authors, ranging from luminaries like Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, Jeffery Deaver, Walter Mosley, Karin Slaughter, Lisa Unger, Tamron Hall, and Ruth Ware, to many exciting new voices in the genre.

She has taught workshops for writers on topics ranging from social media, PR, branding, and podcasting, for the past 12 years at Muse and the Marketplace, the second-largest writers conference in the country, Mystery Writers of America’s New England Crime Bake, Unbound Book Festival, and International Thriller Writer’s ThrillerFest, among others.

She has appeared on CBS as well as in Forbes, The New York Times, ABC, CNBC, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Boston Magazine, and many more. Sara’s talks are eye-opening, thought-provoking, and illuminating. Her straight-shooting, vulnerable style is known for making audiences laugh deeply and often, as well as cry (don’t worry–only when appropriate).

Sara holds a B.A. in communications, summa cum laude, with a print concentration and a minor in European history. When she's not writing, she loves to garden, cook, EAT, knit, and go for long walks with her husband and 16-pound rescue dog, Pelu.
